This is a relatively short, well-written, and information packed book about using calisthenics (a “form of exercising that uses the weight of one’s own body to build muscle”) “to build lean muscle mass and increase strength, agility, mobility, flexibility, and endurance.” The book provides a brief history of calisthenics, offers guidelines for clean eating (no processed foods or sugar, limit caffeine, etc.) and superfoods (black beans, avocados, salmon, etc.), recommended supplements (creatine, beta-alanine, glutamine, etc.), describes stretching exercise how-tos with photo illustrations, and offers numerous exercising tips and examples. The book includes a glossary of technical terms at the end. This is good stuff, clearly explained, with plenty of illustrations, and no wasted words. The book is as fit as its author.

Good book. It motivated me! I like the minimalist philosophy of calisthenics and the minimal monetary cost to get started. As a husband and father I do not have a lot of extra time or money but working out and exercise is essential for my well being. So, I have to fit in a workout daily to keep my health and energy up! I highly recommend this book.
As a busy person, I often don't have time to allocate to going to the gym. I, like most of you, have pockets of free time. In these pockets of time, most of which are between 10-25 minutes, I cannot manage to go to the gym. This conundrum is what has prompted my search for easy, non-invasive time exercises I can cycle through when pockets of free time pop up during my day. During this quest, I have tried exercise such as T25, push up challenges, and other exercises.

Although most of these have been effective, most dictate that I allocate specific time to them, something I am currently unable to do. Unperturbed and determined to find a healthy way to exercise without compromising my productivity, I stumbled upon calisthenics non machine, non-equipment based body-weight exercise that seamlessly integrates into your life no matter how busy you are. After discovering this ground breaking mode of exercising, the quest for more information apropos it started.

I have read many calisthenics books and tried using the instructions in many of them. Unfortunately, many related books are full of watered down or unimplementable calisthenics information. As I was reading up on calisthenics and how to integrate it into my life, I crossed paths with Andrew Johnson's Calisthenics book and stopped buying other related books or searching for related information. Why did I do that? Because this book is indeed the ULTIMATE BODY WEIGHT Training guide and Andrew Johnson has knocked this thing out of the park.

Here is what I liked the most about the book After explaining what calisthenics are and going into the history of body weight training, Andrew does an amazing job of showing you how to use body weight training coupled with healthy eating to achieve a lean physique and a healthy body, something we should all want. After that Mr. Johnson then gives step-by-step explanations detailing how to engage in various calisthenic exercise you can practice whenever you want. For me, this means when 10-25 minutes pockets of time pop up during my day, I can engage in exercises that seamlessly integrate into my busy schedule.

Who should buy this book? This book is ideal for anyone who wants to exercise and maintain a healthy lean body without spending a lot of time at the gym. Is this book worth buying. YES. Andrew's book is an excellent calisthenic write-up
Book focuses only on beginner. If your already capable of doing Front Lever and stuff you find nothing interesting in here

This book provides easy to understand instructions and descriptions that any beginner can utilize immediately to be well on their way to a healthier life.
